Swimming Paragraph

Swimming Paragraph

Today we went to the Lagoon pools, and it was our last day.
First we made a chain and people had to hold the person in
front by their life jackets. Then the second activity we did was
get in to a circle and huddle each other. We huddle each other
to keep ourselves warm, and then two people went inside the
middle of the circle. Then Our last activity we did was to try and
touch the ground but we couldn’t touch the ground because the
life jackets were lifting us up and not letting us touch the ground.

Racheal thought about a house that was made out of glass , and it
was going to have lights. The house lights were going to be bright because
Racheal wanted to light up the city at night. One day Racheal decided to
make a house that will blow people's minds away. So she started building.
Then finally the house was ready. Racheal was going to live in the house
but the problem was that people can break in to the house because it was
made out of glass. But then Racheal build a fence to stop people from
breaking into her glass house.

Complex - But larger balls can explode and start fires, no one is sure how the balls form.

Read Theory - September

In the beginning of the year I was grade 1. Now I am on grade 5. My best grade was grade 6. I improved in my reading but I went back down to four.

          Today in maths we played Maths monster and I got a perfect score for all my times tables.

Student Lead Conference

Student Lead Conference recount

YES! I was so excited because My sister and I was going to the student lead
conference. As soon as my sister finished changing we went to my class. We
had to go to the student lead conference to show my sister my work.


First Ms Kirkpatrick gave me a letter to greet my sister. Then I had to show all the
things around the room. First I show my sister the reading wall. I told her what
poem we were doing for this week. The poem was called night. I told her what
we had to do with the poem.

Then we moved on to the writing wall. I showed my sister my moon paragraph.
I also told her that we had colour the topic sentence red, the supporting
sentence orange and the ending sentence green. Then I told my sister that
we had to use AAAWWUBBIS and FANBOY to make a complex sentence.


Then I showed my sister the Maths wall. First I told my sister that we had to
get into our thinking and solve a maths problem. Then I showed my sister my
thinking group. Then I showed my sister the 2D shape. I told her that my
favourite one was the scalene triangle.


Then the last thing I showed my sister was my blog. I first showed my sister
my reading site. I showed her the poem I have been doing. Then I showed
her my maths site. Then I show my sister my fraction splat I got 90% for fraction
splat. Then I show my sister the writing site. For writing I show her my there,
their and they’re. The last one was the inquiry. I showed her my mind map and
explained to her what we had to do.

I like going to student lead conference it is fun telling my sister what I have
been doing. My sister likes my poem and she was proud of the amount of work
I have been doing.

Going to the dentist.
Last year on November My mum and dad took me to the Manukau dentist because
the dentist hygienist had to fill the holes in my teeth. The hygienist were really gentle
when they were filling the holes in my teeth. They use a tool that they use alot to
fill the holes in my teeth. The hygienist was trying to get the water in my mouth,
and I kept on closing my mouth when it came to the water part. I close my mouth
because the water tasted disgusting. There were heaps of holes to fill In my mouth,
  so I had to sit there for a long time, and it was boring waiting for the hygienist to
finish. 


I had to open my mouth for a long time because the hygienist was taking a
really long time, but when the hygienist is not looking I close my mouth for a
little bit and when she is looking I open my mouth wide again. I was exhausted
but the hygienist still had lot of holes to fill in, so I had to wait patiently for the
hygienist to finish. 

Finally  the hygienist was finished.  They were happy because I stayed still for a
really long time. Then the hygienist gave me a sticker for being good. My mum was  happy as well that I got a sticker for being very good at the dentist and neither did dad.


I was very very scared at the beginning, but when we it was the end it wasn’t so bad. I had an awesome time at the dentist. I was so happy that my teeth doesn’t have anymore problem. My mum was also happy that my teeth doesn’t have hole anymore.

Technology is taking over


WOW! It’s now 2019 and almost everybody you know has a phone, a laptop or an
iPad or even all of them.


Is technology really needed in schools? (PAUSE_ No you don’t need technology in
schools because we already have pens, pencils and books to use.


I think technology is taking over because we spend too much time watching our
phones, iPads and computers and it is not good.


  • We are too reliant on technology
  • Becoming lazy because we are better typers, than writers on a piece of paper 
  • It has a devastating toll on our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing because
  • we are becoming anti-social. People would rather socialise on the internet than
  • spend time with others in the real world 
  • People are not the priority anymore (parents, families, friends are spending too
  • much time on their phone rather than with us)
  • Technology is making your eyes even more worse
  • People need to be aware of this because technology is taking over


The New Zealand Herald  says: Children as young as two are developing mental
health problems because of smartphones and tablets (PAUSE). Just an hour a day
staring at a screen can be enough to make children more likely to be anxious or
depressed.

Is technology needed in schools?


No!! We should have 2 hours of free time away from our devices and
spend that time talking, laughing and playing with our families and friends than
being online


Technology is taking over our lives and it is happening at a rapid pace! If you watch your
phone, Ipad or your computer for 24 hours a day not only will your eyes be very bad
but you will become depressed and anxious.

The Surprised Mouse

The Surprised Mouse

Slowly and cautiously he raised his small curious face, just
like he does every morning. One day he came out of his mouse
home and he went to the mouse restaurant. When he finished
he came out of the restaurant he was surprised and scared of
what he saw. He saw a gigantic cat licking his lips ready to eat
the little mouse. But then the mouse ran as fast as he could,
the cat also tried to catch the mouse but the cat was too fat
and tired and could not catch the mouse. So the mouse was
safe and happy in his little tiny home.

Duffy Role Model

Today we went to the Duffy assembly, our quest was Jamie Wall. He was an author and he travelled to different Countries and watch sport games. He also wrote a book called Brothers in Black.
My first Duffy book I chose was Ella's Diaries. I chose Ella Diaries because I enjoyed reading diaries.  The second book I chose was Goosebumps. I chose Goosebumps because I love reading horror story.

Mind Lab Recount

Mind Lab Recount


“WOW” I was so excited, because I was going to the mind lab with
my class and it was going to be fun  and interesting.


First we went inside the mind lab then the two ladies introduced
themselves to us. Their names were Emma and Kenza. Before we
started our first lesson, Miss Emma talks to us about how to make a
torch flash by twisting a cog. Then we look for a group of three and
work together. We had to  build a torch by using L.E.D, motor, axles
and cogs. We spun a cog to flash the L.E.D Light. But we didn’t get
time to finish building our torch.


Then our second lesson was with Miss Kenza. We built a car.
We used batteries, motor, fan, wheels, cardboard, axle and skewers.
We put a straw through the skewers so it can help it move. Then
we put the skewer through a hole in the cardboard. After that, we
attach the positive and the negative wires together. Then we put a
fan on to the battery, and the battery helped the fan spin. The last
thing we did was to attach the parts together by using tape.


Finally it was time for our walk. We went for a walk around
the mind lab, and looked at the olden days stuff like: the pump house,
telephones, trains and houses. First we went down a tunnel
where there was a train going around.  When we finished
looking at the train, we went to look at the olden day phones.
I liked the olden day pump house because it was interesting learning
that people use it to get water. When finished we went to look at some
other olden day stuff. 

The other thing we saw when we were walking was the olden day
cars. Then we peeked through a door window to look at a man that
was sleeping in jail. While we were peeking through the window, we
saw the man’s eyes were open. After that we went to look at the olden
day village. So we went and looked in to this little tiny house with
little tiny beds and shoes, and it also had a little kitchen behind.


“Wow” It was so exciting and interesting learning about what they
used to have in the olden days. I wish one day me and my family
will go there. When we went back to school everyone
was exhausted.
