Zios and Zepts

Today we had a maths problem. We got into in our thinking group. We solve the answer to how many Zios and Zepts to make 52 legs. So we made a table and the first number we used was 2 so we had to see how much feet do the Zios have and it was 6. Then we got 46 and divided it by 7 and it was the wrong answer. Then we used 3 and that 9 legs. Then it was 43 we divided it and it was  the wrong answer. Then we kept going and we got up to 8 Zios and it was 24 legs then for Zepts it was 28 legs and 4 Zepts.

Visual Language - Tiger

Today in class we used a picture from a book. We also use visual language. Visual language means describing and communicate features of an image. I also learn some new word like vector an modality.
Modality- What colours you can see in the pictures.
Vector- Where is the line in the picture is it curved or straight

Duffy - Into the Games

Today we went to the hall to watch a show about Duffy goes in to the games. When we went into the hall there were three people they introduce themselves. Then they started the show. The show was all about a boy name Duffy and his cousin. His cousin always play video games so Duffy got bored and started playing by himself. Then Duffy put on his nana's glasses and then he started dancing. Then he got suck in to the video game. I learn that the game that Duffy's cousin was playing was invented by Duffy's nana. My favourite part was when the minstral try to knock out Duffy's tour. Minstral is a character in the game that try to knock out the blocks.

S.T.E.A.M Mind Map

We did a bus stop activity and we made up some words that go with these titles. Then we created a mind map about S.T.E.A.M on lucid chart.

Monkeys always like to play and swing around. I love monkeys,
because I think they are cute and funny. I learnt that there are
many different types of monkeys like: apes, and squirrels monkey.
Monkeys also eat meat and plants. Most monkeys eat bananas
as well. Monkeys are also known to be very noisy, but monkeys
are also naughty at the same time. Monkeys come from Africa.
Monkeys are my favourite animals, although monkeys can be
very noisy.

Today I wrote a paragraph about my favourite animal and I picked monkeys. I wrote a paragraph and I use red for the topic sentence, orange for the supporting sentences, green for ending sentence.

Zoo Recount

Zoo Recount

Yay! I was so excited because Room 5 was going to the zoo.
We went to the zoo because we were sponsored by the Warehouse
and the Ritchies buses.

Before we started our session we went to see the Red Pandas.
My teacher told us that the Red Pandas eats root and bark.
Then we went to the South American side. My group and I saw
Siamang Gibbons. I always wondered why Gibbons shout a lot. The
other animal my group saw in the South America side was Tarantulas. 

After that we meet with the rest of my class at the education centre.
Hohepa took my class to the Africa side. First we were walking
and then we all smelled something funny and yucky. Then Hohepa
told us that the tree was called Ginkgo tree, that was what smelled
so bad. Hohepa also said that the Ginkgo tree was there for a really
long time. First we saw a Baboon. The Baboon was showing off
his pink bum. Then we saw the Cheetahs. Hohepa showed
us the skin of a cheetah. Hohepa said that the cheetah skin was also
called pelt. We saw the elephant next. We got to hold a tusk. Then the
last animal we saw was the flamingo. The flamingos have really skinny
legs.

When our session was finished we went and looked at the lions,
giraffes, zebras, rhinos, ostrich and nyalas. Then my group went to find
the kiwi house. When we went into the kiwis house it was very dark
and we can hardly see the kiwis. Then we walk over the swing bridge.
We saw one Kea sitting on the branch.

I really like going to the zoo with my class. I have only been to the zoo once. So I couldn’t wait to go to the zoo. When we went back to school I was very happy and a little bit tired. 

Blog Commenting

Today we pick a person from LS1 and wrote a comment to them. I comment on Shinaye's blog. For our blog commenting we always had to have to a greeting. Then the next thing we did was make a connection with the person you are commenting on like I really like maths or other things. Then we add more information to our comment. At the end of the comment we ask a question to the person who we are writing the comment to . The last thing we did was proof read our comment before we published the comment.

Matariki

This week we went to the hall to celebrate Matariki. We had a sausage sizzle before we went to the hall. Whaea Odie and her husband donated the sausages for the school. The Junior Kapa haka was the first group to perform. After the junior kapa haka we watched a video about the 7 stars of Matariki. Then it was time for the pacifica group to perform. The last group that performed was the senior kapa haka.

Read Theory - July

At the start of the year I was grade 1. Last month I was grade 4. My best result was grade 6. I am still grade 4. I need to look for the answers in the text so I can move up.

Trial and Error

Today in class we solve a number problem by using Trial and Error. We guessed a number between 1 and 10 then we multiplied the number by 3. First we tried 9x3 then we added 9+8 but it didn't work. Then we tried 7x3 and 7+8 but it didn't work. Then we tried 5x3 and 5+8 It was close but we needed 2 more numbers. Then we tried  4x3 and 4+8 which both of them equals 12 so the answer is 4.
